Thornews (coming up in the above post) was on this before most other sites, and went into some detail about it. It is one strange occurrence and is a huge support for the electric universe theory. One point of the electric universe theory holds that comets are not necessarily made of ice and space dust, and that their tails are brighter and longer or dimmer and shorter based on coronal mass ejections and flares from the Sun.
