Contingent Divinity: The Golden Calf of the Universe

In Romans 1:25, St. Paul pens the following comments concerning the practices of idolaters: “They changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever.” St. Paul’s identification of the “creature” as the idolater’s surrogate for God elucidates a parallel between the ancient world and modernity. To understand this parallel, one must first examine the etymology of the term “creature.” “Creature” is derived from the Latin word creāre, which means “created thing.” The material cosmos qualifies as a “created thing” and, within the dominant cultural milieu of modernity, it is the material cosmos that tends to occupy the lofty status of divine. Today, the idolatry of the ancient world is expressed through the Weltanschauung of naturalism and enjoys pseudo-scientific sanctions with evolutionary theory.

Naturalism holds that nature brought itself into being without a Creator and continues to arrange itself through purely organic processes. Of course, structure and organization imply design, which, in turn, implies a Designer. Since the naturalist views nature as the originator of its own structure and organization, he or she is tacitly deeming nature a de facto designer. Essentially, the material world is hypostatized. Within the context of this discussion, the term “hypostasis” is being invoked to denote a fundamental, self-sufficient rational entity upon which all else is contingent. Ironically, those who advance the hypostatic depiction of the universe typically contend that their immanent surrogate for the Divine is anhypostatic. Yet, given the irreducibly teleological nature of their cosmology, such an anhypostatic characterization of the universe is not logically sustainable. Invariably, the elevation of the sensate cosmos to the status of the Divine results in the hypostatizing of the contingent universe, a reality tacitly underscored by the anthropomorphic terminology that scientific materialists tend to invoke in discussions concerning the material world. This hypostatic depiction of the universe provides the basis for the virtual apotheosis of material agencies and the enshrinement of immanentism.

Russian Orthodox theologian Sergei Nikolaevich Bulgakov identified two core commonalities shared by materialism and immanentism. These are “the rejection of a transcendent God and of ‘contact with other worlds’” (Valliere 185). In the absence of a transcendent God and another world, the hypostatic view of material agencies gains the semblance of sense and human reason can be elevated to the status of divine revelatory agency. The denial of contact with a world beyond this one provides the basis for the Enlightenment’s self-sufficient portrayal of nature, which is supposedly explained through an incoherent narrative involving an infinite regress of contingent agencies imbued with the causative powers of the Divine. In turn, the denial of a transcendent God provides the basis for the Enlightenment’s apotheosized portrayal of reason, which supposedly uses the hermeneutical keys of fetishized science and logic to decipher the sublime mysteries of the inexplicably eternal universe. Conrad Goeringer articulates the Enlightenment’s symbiotic portrayal of reason and nature:

Reason, then, was the faculty for comprehending nature, the second important element in the Enlightenment triad. Nature was just that – the natural, real world. It was not the realm of the supernatural, the demonic, or the godly, but the empirical or rational “stuff” of which the universe was, and is, made. Nature could be understood through reason; through logic, scientific inquiry, and open mind of free inquiry, nature would yield her secrets. (“The Enlightenment, Freemasonry, and the Illuminati”)

These elements–a self-creating, self-sustaining natural world and an apotheosized human cognitive faculty–comprise an anti-metaphysical view of the universe that echoes the schools of occultism that populated antiquity, particularly the ancient Mystery religions of Egypt and Mesopotamia. All the elements are in place for the transplantation of divinity within the ontological confines of the physical universe, an interpretation of God that pervades pantheism, immanentism, and even naturalism. In fact, Perennial Traditionalist Rene Guenon contends that all three constitute “anti-metaphysical errors,” which are “closely interrelated” (The Reign of Quantity 288). All three fetter the Divine to material agencies, albeit through a variety of different conceptual frameworks proffered by different theoreticians. As much as some may object, this is just as much the case for naturalism.

St. Paul’s description of idolatry is equally applicable to the luminaries of Enlightenment thought and all of its ideational progenies. Radical empiricist and Enlightenment theoretician David Hume admits as much in Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion:

It were better, never to look beyond the present material world. By supposing it to contain the principle of its order within itself, we really assert it to be God; and the sooner we arrive at that divinity, the better. (94)

New Order of the Barbarian

This is just the intro from a site that is completely devoted to revealing the "hidden superpower", what's commonly referred to as the New World Order.  Follow the link at the bottom to read the full text, but it's amazing how prescient these ideas were.  Notice the highlighted section which was recorded in a lecture in 1969...and how all of those items listed have come true or are coming true in our homes and communities today...

The New Order of Barbarians is the transcript of three tapes of reminiscences made by  Dr Lawrence Dunegan, of a speech given on March 20, 1969 by Dr Richard Day (1905-89), an insider of the "Order," recorded by Randy Engel in 1988. Dr Dunegan claims he attended a medical meeting on March 20, 1969 where Dr Richard Day (who died in 1989 but at the time was Professor of Paediatrics at Mount Sinai Medical School in New York and was previously the Medical Director of Planned Parenthood Federation of America) give "off the record" remarks during an addressed at the Pittsburgh Pediatric Society to a meeting of students and health professionals, who were destined to be leaders in medicine and health care.

In tape three, recorded by Randy Engel, Dunegan details Dr Day's credentials and what is clear from this is that Day was an Establishment insider privy to the overarching plan of an Elite Group that rules the Western World for the creation of a World Dictatorship. A Global Tyranny usually called the New World Order containing a secular and a spiritual component -the One World Government and the One World Religion: A future reality that those who understand such things call Lucifer's Totalitarian World Empire.

 

Before he began his talk, Dr Day asked everyone to turn off all tape recorders and stop note taking so that he could tell them, the prospective leaders of organised medicine, what was going to happen in the future. Dr Dunegan sensed Dr Day's message was important, disobeyed the request and recorded what was said as notes on napkins, later writing up these notes, which were the basis of the interview with Engel, the National Director of the US Coalition for Life. The notes taken by Dunegan reveal not just what is planned for the entire world's people but also how this evil cabal intend to carry out this plan. For, those who understand such things will recognise that Day's remarks are merely reiteration of the secret agenda of the Global Elite to wipe out swathes of humanity by promoting ill health and spurious medical treatments while suppressing effective treatments for diseases as well as the deliberate introduction of man-made pathogens, like AIDS, into the human gene pool.

 

Throughout is talk Day justifies his observations by using a philosophy founded upon a spurious theory made famous by the English natural scientist Charles Darwin (1809-82) vis-à-vis evolution by "natural selection." That is, a posited natural process resulting in the evolution of organisms best adapted to the environment pithily described by an ardent supporter of it, the English philosopher and sociologist Herbert Spencer (1820-1903), as the "survival of the fittest." Spencer also promptly applied Darwin's hypothesis to human societies. Thus, while Darwin restricted his formula of organic evolution (wherein new species arise and are perpetuated by "natural selection") to the animal kingdom, others followed Spencer and extended "natural selection" to human society.

 

Spencer's theory, often called Social Darwinism (whereby human society mimics the jungle and only those best able to cope with the many testing dangers survive and perpetuate their characteristics into future generations and so ever increase the degree of separation of human society from the degenerate) is the scientific basis of Eugenics and everything it connotes.

The German philosopher Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche (1844-1900) best remembered for his concept of the "superman" and for his rejection of Christian values is one of the philosophical giants of this movement. Dr Day, an ardent atheist, was thus a spokesman for those who view human existence as merely an extension of the jungle and whose self-appointed task is to safeguard what advances have been made by humans, epitomised by Western Civilisation, by rooting out "weakness" and "degeneracy" from the human gene pool. Moreover, in so doing, not only preserve what advances humanity has made in this evolutionary process but also to "help" it along. It is this pernicious philosophy, wholly inimical to the true purpose of Creation wrought by the Will of God, and of the Natural Moral Order therein, which lies barely concealed in much of the wicked works of those who strive to build their New World Order. It is also part of the reason why a major component of the plan for the New World Order is not only Eugenics but also Population Reduction and genocide. Moreover, it is the reason why people like Dr Day hate Christianity, which in its truest form concretises Natural Moral Order, and seeks its destruction here on Earth as a spiritual reality.

 

Although Day knew and spoke of the Secret Agenda within organised medicine to cull the world's population, he was also privy to the wider goals of the conspirators working to bring about World Dictatorship under their direct control. In his introductory remarks, Dr Richard Day commented that he was free to speak at this time (1969) since, even a few years earlier, he would not have been able to say what he was about to say. However, he was now free to speak at this time because the Ancient Ambition of the Secret Societies for World Empire, the closely guarded "Closed Conspiracy" was now an "Open Conspiracy" because as Day crowed:

"... everything is in place and nobody can stop us now."

Amongst the hitherto Secret Plans Day outlined were the morals revolution that had shook Western society to its foundations and the ushering onto the world's stage a New World Religion: this is Ahriman's One World Religion of the New World Order, which would be brought about by the churches themselves, especially the Roman Catholic Church. Moreover, he discussed "bringing the nation to the brink of nuclear war" and the cynical control and use of "terrorism" to bring about World Government and the New World Order.

Topics Day discusses are:

"Population control; permission to have babies; redirecting the purpose of sex - sex without reproduction and reproduction without sex; contraception universally available to all; sex education and carnalising of youth as a tool of world government; tax funded abortion as population control; encouraging homosexuality ... anything goes homosexuality also was to be encouraged; technology used for reproduction without sex; families to diminish in importance; euthanasia and the "demise pill"; limiting access to affordable medical care makes eliminating elderly easier; medicine would be tightly controlled; elimination of private doctors; new difficult to diagnose and untreatable diseases; suppressing cancer cures as a means of population control; inducing heart attacks as a form of assassination; education as a tool for accelerating the onset of puberty and evolution; blending all religions ... the old religions will have to go; changing the bible through revisions of key words; restructuring education as a tool of indoctrination; more time in schools, but pupils "wouldn't learn anything"; controlling who has access to information; schools as the hub of the community; "some books would just disappear from the libraries"; changing laws to promote moral and social chaos; the encouragement of drug abuse to create a jungle atmosphere in cities and towns; promote alcohol abuse; restrictions on travel; the need for more jails, and using hospitals as jails; no more psychological or physical security; crime used to manage society; curtailment of US industrial pre-eminence; shifting populations and economies -tearing out the social roots; sports as a tool of social engineering and change; sex and violence inculcated through entertainment; travel restrictions and implanted I.D. cards; food control; weather control; know how people respond -making them do what you want; falsified scientific research; use of terrorism; surveillance, implants, and televisions that watch you; home ownership a thing of the past; the arrival of the totalitarian global system."

While there are many anti-feminist bloggers, “men’s rights” activists and talking heads continually chipping away at the chief idol of our time (equalism/egalitarianism), few are aware of the origins of “equalism” and its hideous spawn, the feminist movement as a planned, engineered, and strategically deployed offensive, not just targeting women, but the entire populace.  And while the planned aspect of feminism may come up in rare instances, even more rare is any mention of the deeper occult agenda that is at root Satanic.  In this article I will analyze the origins and usage of the movement, its connections and deployment, as well as the larger goal of feminism and equalist thought.

Modern conceptions of egalitarianism arise from philosophical presuppositions that emerged in the Enlightenment.  From medieval nominalism came the modern tradition that objects in the world did not actually possess “natures,” but rather the assigning of such metaphysical categories and “essences” was strictly a human conceptual framework.  Thus, human nature was not an actually existing ontological description of something in the world, but rather a linguistic symbol that corresponded to a mental picture the tabula rasa mind had recorded, as the British empiricists further teased out the implications of nominalism.  In their day, it was still common to think “man” designated one side of the gender spectrum, and “woman” another, but we can see the seeds of a revolution of thought to come across the entire spectrum, as all ontological “natures” would have to be tossed away.

I often mention the Enlightenment’s universalization of human reason, which is likely becoming a bore to regular readers, but let me assure you, as the writer, I am just as nauseated by these ridiculous philosophies, but they are the unquestionable foundations of the whole modern world that must fall away.  What is meant by the universalization of human reason is the change in western civilization’s perception of anthropology as regards human nature itself.  Since the West developed without the Eastern idea of man’s nous as a higher faculty of point of contact with God, the Augustinian replacement became man’s intellect and reason.  What was  in seed form in Augustine then became the norm in Descartes and the British Empiricists.  For early Augustine especially, reason was the ultimate path to God, as man’s mind was the mirror refraction of the ideas in the divine essence.  By believing, man could cleanse his mind of fixity on the temporal and transient, and wind his way towards the eternal good.  This is why Augustine’s City of God contains the same “cogito” argument Descartes later rewords.  It is also why in Soliloquies, young Augustine proposes a form of empirical idealism that Berkeley would later formulate.

Lucy (2014) – Esoteric Analysis

Luc Besson has that rare, magical quality where his films teeter on the edge of being extremely mediocre and/or somewhat entertaining.  Similar themes run through his work, from La Femme Nikita to The Professional to The Fifth Element to The Messenger, focusing on the feminized goddess archetype rising above all adversity, in ferocious neo-Darwinian fashion.  Lucy is the climax of this goddess myth, wherein Scarlett Johansson plays an inadvertent drug mule, “Lucy,” roped into an international conspiracy that quickly departs into something resembling The Matrix meets Limitless meets 2001: A Space Odyssey.

I suppose it’s difficult to get away from being influenced by the top science fiction films, but at a certain point, audiences can only see so many Matrix-y bullet stopping scenes, and replacing Keanu with a hot chick doesn’t make it any better.  Regardless, the transhumanist plot is really the focus here, as the premise is basically this: Since humans only use a small portion of their latent brainpower, what would happen if a human could use all 100%?  And what if Morgan Freeman, Hollywood’s imagined, soulful voice of God/science, could help facilitate that ascent of (wo)man to godhood?  As I observed this silly plot, I was reminded of Gravity, where references to Darwinian apotheosis also abound, as woman takes humanity to the next level by a punctuated equilibrium jump in the evolutionary spectrum.  Here, sweet Scarlett will catapult us ahead to the vaginal tech utopia.
Like The Fifth Element, where Milla Jovovich plays a feminine incarnation of the aether, or quintessence, Lucy becomes the feminine incarnation of reason and robotic rationality as she gradually ascends into the adoption of taking on what classical theology has called the incommunicable attributes of God: omniscience and omnipresence.  We never know if Lucy attains to omnibenevolence. The film continually references Darwinian process, highlighting the survival of the fittest, aeons of slow mutation, and Lucy, the laughable supposed first chimp, who was a female.  Sorry, my fellow men, as Besson would have us understand, men are not preeminent in reason, nor are men the real power that propels order and civilization, as that exalted role is reserved for the first Lucy, the imagined female chimp, and the last Lucy, Scarlett Johansson.

Lucy is thus a conglomeration of all the myths of secular thought and for this reason it is highly instructive.  While secularists, atheists, and materialists lambaste those of us with religious presuppositions, they are amazingly oblivious to their own religious assumptions.  Lucy is a great example, where all the myths of modern man are combined into a story line that demonstrates just how preposterous and divorced from reality secular mythology is.   Neo-Darwinian theory, a chaotic, purposeless universe, and an imminent, emergent deity of feminist exemplification through transhumanism all coalesce to give us the future goddess: Lucy.  It is worthwhile to note that Lucy also brings to mind Lucifer, lucid, and LSD, all of which relate to various mind control programs by the intelligence agencies.  Lucifer is the archetypal figure of transhumanist thought, representing the ascent of reason to displace the ancient and medieval superstitions embodied in the patriarchal God of the Bible.  However, I must point out the total contradiction that the hoped-for emergent god/goddess of the technocracy, the great supercomputer, also takes on the very attributes they think are irrational?  The transhumanists firmly believe their merging with hard drives will lead to omniscience.

It is worth mentioning that in La Femme Nikita, The Fifth Element and in Lucy, MKULTRA mind control is also an important theme.  In Lucy, Lucy undergoes a kidnapping, drugging and accidental overdose, leading to her higher mental capacities “activating” through an advanced nootropic, wherein she becomes a perfectly cold assassin.  While the focus of the film is chance evolution and technocracy, this element cannot be overlooked.  Besson is clearly conveying to us the real purpose of the supersoldier programming that is now so prevalent in television and film – the perfection of (wo)man through mind control.   The occult message of Lucy is that evolution shows us that whatever testing and experimenting are done on humans is for the greater good.  Human testing is only propelling our evolutionary ascent, as we are merely animals, and only highly rational geniuses are able to understand this.  Since most of humanity cannot grasp these esoteric truths, the continued covert manipulation and bio-engineering must continue unabated.   Lucifer is guiding us to godhood – have faith, dear brothers, er sisters.

In the end, Lucy downloads herself into a supercomputer and puts all her full-booty goodness into a thumb drive.  Unfortunately, only Morgan Freeman ends up with the Lilith Lucy thumb drive, so sorry fellas, no USB Johansson hotness for you.  Like Bruce Willis in The Fifth Element, the quintessence only unites with a worthy male supplicant, and in Lucy, the only worthy supplicant is the gnostic black neuroscientist.  Lucy is a perfect representation of the combination of the humanist teleology and eschatology.  The film is premised on the crucial occult, alchemical and Marxist belief that “progress” only comes through the inversion of all order and hierarchy.  Women are the ultimate rational beings, chaos produces order, and finitude somehow inherently creates infinity.  While many movie goers scoff at the silly plot based on its reviews, isn’t it interesting that so many people actually believe this secular gnostic mythology in their daily life, yet attack religion? How about a multee-pass to another film?

Transhumanism and the End of Religion

Transhumanism is:

 

The intellectual and cultural movement that affirms the possibility and desirability of fundamentally improving the human condition through applied reason, especially by developing and making widely available technologies to eliminate aging and to greatly enhance human intellectual, physical, and psychological capacities … transhumanism is a way of thinking about the future that is based on the premise that the human species in its current form does not represent the end of our development but rather a comparatively early phase.[1]

 

Transhumanism appears to have nothing in common with religion, defined as: “the belief in and worship of a god or gods, or any such system of belief and worship…”[2] In transhumanism gods plays no role.

Yet the two are not entirely dissimilar. Like transhumanists, the religious generally want to overcome the limitations of the body and live forever in eternal bliss. Religions, arising before transhumanist ideas were conceivable, advised its followers to accept death and hope for the best, with no other options available. And religious beliefs provided comfort against natural evils before the advent of science and technology.

But must we relinquish religious beliefs now, before science gives us everything we want? Might we allow the comfort of religious beliefs to those who need them, to  those who must tell their children something when someone dies? The most important reason to abandon religious belief is religion’s opposition to most forms of progress. From the elimination of slavery, the use of birth control, and women’s and civil rights, to stem cell research, genetic engineering, and science in general, organized religion often opposes progress. The comfort provided by archaic superstitions often impedes advancement and should be set aside.

Nihilism: the West's evil religion of idolatry, lies, and hate

Andre Comte-Sponville, one of France's preeminent atheist philosophers agrees. In his New York Times bestseller, "The Little Book of Atheist Spirituality," Sponville observes that even though Western and American civilization has become nonreligious it is nevertheless profoundly rooted in transcendent Biblical morality and traditions. That overt and implied atheism has all but supplanted Biblical beliefs pleases yet simultaneously frightens Sponville as he clearly sees that if Western civilization entirely ceases to be Christian it will fall into something like a refined nihilism. And if we believe that nothing remains,

"....we might as well throw in the towel at once. We would have nothing left to oppose to either fanaticism from without or to nihilism from within – and, contrary to what many people seem to think, nihilism is the primary danger. We would belong to a dead civilization, or at least a dying one....Wealth has never sufficed to make a civilization, poverty, even less so. Civilizations require culture, imagination, enthusiasm and creativity, and none of these things come without courage, work and effort." Without these necessities, "Good night...the Western world has decided to replace faith with somnolence." (pp. 28-29)

Sponville admits that in his younger years he had believed in the supernatural God of Revelation and been raised a Christian. Up till around the age of eighteen his faith was powerful. But then he embraced evolutionary scientism and fell away, and this falling away said Sponville, was liberating because for the liberated autonomous 'self' whose life no longer has any ultimate meaning or purpose there is no valid reason why he personally should not do as he wants to do, or why his friends should not live in the way that they find most advantageous to themselves.

But the lies, amoralism and perverse license, the nihilism Sponville rejoices in becomes an unbearable source of horror and dread when reproduced in millions of souls. Sponville is right to fear the spread of nihilism, for when multiplied by millions it means there is no longer an ultimate, transcendent source of unchanging truth and moral law independent of sinful men, and as Sponville knows, therefore dreads, the lie is the father of violence:

Nihilism is the satanically inverted philosophy of violence, lies and license of America's president, his cabinet, and the amoral progressive ruling class of which they are members. It is also the philosophy of the Marquis de Sade, Friedrich Nietzsche, Karl Marx and the Sophist Callicles in Plato's 'Georgias' who declares:

"The fact is this: luxury and licentiousness and liberty, if they have the support of force, are virtue and happiness and the rest of these embellishments – the unnatural covenants of mankind – are all mere stuff and nonsense." (Making Gay Okay, Reilly, pp. 31-32)

In other words, with a consensus of lies backed by force and the threat of violence, the Revelation of God, the Christian Church, virtue, true truth, marriage, gender, your children, your humanity, your wealth, your home, your business, and your Constitutional rights become whatever agents of violence and the mobs in back of them want them to be or not to be from one moment to the next.

What nihilism has already led to in England, said Nate Steuer of Jeremiah Cry Ministries, are buildings that once served as churches that are now museums, stores and even nightclubs, a strong belief in evolution and a strong homosexual-rights movement:

"They don't want to hear the gospel. The gospel is pressed down,' and the homosexual-rights movement is so rooted in England that Christians are afraid to go 'into the streets and preach,' fearing what the LBGT community will do." Vatican Reeling As Pope Francis Admits There Is An Army Of Over 8,000 Pedophile Priests

Pope Francis was quoted as saying there are around 8,000 pedophile priests stationed around the globe

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.” 2 Timothy 4:1-3
In a BBC interview that the Vatican is struggling to spin, Pope Francis took the highly unusual step of actually admitting that there are thousands and thousands of pedophile priests in the Catholic Church worldwide. By their estimates about 8,000. This mind-numbing admission has sent shock-waves through the highest levels of the Vatican system.

Many survivors of abuse by priests are angry at what they see as the Vatican’s failure to punish senior officials who have been accused of covering up scandals.

 

In the interview, Pope Francis was quoted as saying that the 2% estimate came from advisers. It would represent around 8,000 child-abusing priests out of a global number of about 414,000. While the incidence of pedophilia as a psychiatric disorder in the general population is not accurately known, some estimates have put it at less than five percent.

“Among the 2% who are pedophiles are priests, bishops and cardinals. Others, more numerous, know but keep quiet. They punish without giving the reason,” Pope Francis was quoted as saying.

Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi denied that Pope Francis had said that there were cardinals who were pedophiles. Father Lombardi also denied that these were the Pope’s exact words.

"Paedophilic interest is natural and normal for human males," said the presentation. "At least a sizeable minority of normal males would like to have sex with children ... Normal males are aroused by children."

Some yellowing tract from the Seventies or early Eighties, era of abusive celebrities and the infamous PIE, the Paedophile Information Exchange? No. Anonymous commenters on some underground website? No again.

The statement that paedophilia is "natural and normal" was made not three decades ago but last July. It was made not in private but as one of the central claims of an academic presentation delivered, at the invitation of the organisers, to many of the key experts in the field at a conference held by the University of Cambridge.

Other presentations included "Liberating the paedophile: a discursive analysis," and "Danger and difference: the stakes of hebephilia."

Hebephilia is the sexual preference for children in early puberty, typically 11 to 14-year-olds.

Another attendee, and enthusiastic participant from the floor, was one Tom O'Carroll, a multiple child sex offender, long-time campaigner for the legalisation of sex with children and former head of the Paedophile Information Exchange. "Wonderful!" he wrote on his blog afterwards. "It was a rare few days when I could feel relatively popular!"

At the time he was rising to global power, Hitler’s audience was Catholic, but his announcement of the Concordat with Rome (the papal agreement, July 5, 1933) had meaning to Protestants as well. 

The message was obvious and clear: Friendly relations—relations that are inclusive of the church—must be the norm in a resurgent Germany. “The fact that the Vatican is concluding a treaty with the new Germany means the acknowledgement of the National Socialist state by the Catholic Church. This treaty shows the whole world clearly and unequivocally that the assertion that National Socialism [Nazism] is hostile to religion is a lie.”^[i] 

                                                                                                                                                                                                    

Hitler was even more effusive about the value of Nazism to benefit the church:

While we destroyed the Center Party [a Catholic political party^[ii]], we have not only brought thousands of priests back into the Church, but to millions of respectable people we have restored their faith in their religion and in their priests. The union of the Evangelical Church in a single Church for the whole Reich, the Concordat with the Catholic Church, these are but milestones on the road, which leads to the establishment of a useful relation and a useful co-operation between the Reich and the two Confessions.^[iii] 

                                                                                                                                                                                                    

Furthermore, it was essential to separate the realms of personal faith from political action. Hitler’s “spheres of function” were altogether essential insofar as the church’s dominion was concerned, for without the spiritual health of Germany, there would be no political health. But he also took a hard line to distinguish their responsibilities: The church was to look after the spiritual and moral health of the flock—the state would tend to its material need: 

                                                                                                                                                                                                    

The German Church and the People are practically the same body. Therefore there could be no issue between Church and State. The Church, as such, has nothing to do with political affairs. On the other hand, the State has nothing to do with the faith or inner organization of the Church.^[iv] 

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          

The National Socialist State professes its allegiance to positive Christianity. It will be its honest endeavor to protect both the great Christian Confessions in their rights, to secure them from interference with their doctrines (Lehren), and in their duties to constitute a harmony with the views and the exigencies of the State of today.^[v]

So long as they concern themselves with their religious problems the State does not concern itself with them. But so soon as they attempt by any means whatsoever—by letters, Encyclical, or otherwise—to arrogate to themselves rights which belong to the State alone we shall force them back into their proper spiritual, pastoral activity.^[vi] 

                                                                                                                                                                                                    

In other words, both church and state must reassure its denizens the institution exists to provide for their well-being. But it is, from Hitler’s perspective, necessary that they split duties. Keep the church’s message personal and positive while the state should keep on its message of economic welfare for all (sound familiar as of late?). And of course, the supremacy of the state must be upheld. It was never to be questioned. The state dictated the role of the church. Furthermore, it mandated that any criticism of the state would not be tolerated.

Movement afoot for a new National Socialism between politics & religion?

Moreover, upon close inspection, Hitler would “gerrymander” the territory of the state whenever it suited him. Some theological modifications would be necessary. In a Germany liberated from the “old-fashioned” faith, the church should dismiss any talk of humankind’s sinful inclinations and its need for repentance. Evil must be mitigated—more specifically, downgraded—and reduced in substance to “mistakes” and not the more menacing notion of sin. Defects in human behavior amount to little more than “poor choices.” Thus, with sin redefined and evil eliminated as a “metaphysical reality,”^[vii] the gospel was compromised and the church complicit. It could then pray reverently with the Führer: 

                                                                                                                                                                                                    

We want honestly to earn the resurrection of our people through our industry, our perseverance, and our will. We ask not of the Almighty, “Lord, make us free!”—we want to be active, to work, to agree together as brothers, to strive in rivalry with one another to bring about the hour when we can come before Him and when we may ask of Him: “Lord, Thou seest that we have transformed ourselves, the German people is no longer the people of dishonor, of shame, of war within itself, of faintheartedness and little faith: no, Lord, the German people has become strong again in spirit, strong in will, strong in endurance, strong to bear all sacrifices.” “Lord, we will not let Thee go: bless now our fight for our freedom; the fight we wage for our German people and Fatherland.”^[viii] 

                                                                                                                                                                                                    

Furthermore, while the Führer did not directly confront Christian sensibilities, his prayer led one to conjecture as to what “positive Christianity” involved, and exactly what its opposite—“negative Christianity”—would entail. No doubt his listeners let the matter drop without questioning the meaning behind his exhortation for accentuating a “positive Christianity.” In contradistinction, like observing a lit firecracker failing to pop, we should be very alarmed when such a loaded phrase lies dormant for too long. Observers must be asleep if they have no apprehension about when the firecracker will detonate. 

                                                                                                                                                                                                    

To the wary spectator, Hitler’s statement anticipated a pause “for the other shoe to drop.” And yet, assuming nothing but good intent from the Führer, the audience did not worry one iota that another shoe would hit the floor. Instead, they were enraptured by Hitler’s acclamation: 

                                                                                                                                                                                                    

MY LORD AND SAVIOR…IN THE BOUNDLESS LOVE AS A CHRISTIAN…HE HAD TO SHED HIS BLOOD UPON THE CROSS. My feelings as a Christian point me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded only by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them [Peter should take up his sword, rather than put it away]. This is God’s truth! He was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was His fight for the world against the Jewish poison. Today, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before in the fact that it was for this that He had to shed His blood upon the Cross. As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice.^[ix] (emphasis added) 

                                                                                                                                                                                                    

The notion that the Messiah was himself NOT Jewish was a view propounded by Richard Wagner, the famous German composer whose operas were expressions of the nineteenth-century German zeitgeist (the “spirit of the age”). Unquestionably, Hitler’s favorite composer, Wagner, stirred Hitler’s soul to envision a revived, irrepressible, and vengeful Germany. During World War II, Wagner’s legacy lived on as his music filled the putrefied air of Holocaust death camps. As a result, survivors would forever associate Wagner with Auschwitz. This was no disservice to Wagner—for he believed that Christ was Aryan, not Jewish. And like Friedrich Nietzsche, the “Philosopher Emeritus” of the German people (a good friend of Wagner until their falling out), he believed the German soul must not be dragged down by the “slave mentality” of the Jew. Consequently, it logically followed that Jesus could never be considered a Jew. To the aspiring German mindset, the Jews were a millstone about their necks. The Hebrew religion bestowed nothing but restrictive laws and depressive guilt. It was time for Germany to cast aside the Jewish mentality and its stifling effect upon the soul of humankind, but especially their Aryan race!

As to Nietzsche, he famously asserted a philosophy known as the will to power. To the extent Jesus allowed Himself to be crucified, to that same extent Jesus was Himself the anti-Christ. For Nietzsche, Jesus’ commitment to die for the sin of the world was nothing but a death wish to be condemned and repudiated. For him, Jesus’ willingness to lay down His life remains the source of so much nonsense contaminating the true purpose for religion. Instead, a “true confession” encourages struggle! (Mein Kampf, of course, means “My Struggle.”) For Nietzsche, suffering saves no one. Moreover, this must be the stalwart creed of all true believers. The gospel of Wagner, Nietzsche, and especially Adolf Hitler held in common a disdain for the Jew.
