As I watch Open Range (one of the best modern cowboy movies, maybe the best) and listen to the bands of Tropical Storm Debby lash the house and begin to flood the neighborhood, I'm reminded of the bizarre sub-tropical storm that dropped two feet of rain and did not move for four days in April of 2008. Debby is not behaving in a "normal" fashion. The screen shot below shows that almost all of the precipitation is east of the eye, something I have never seen. The eye of the storm in this shot is in the Gulf of Mexico, near the "Big Bend" region of the Panhandle.
